Ash Wednesday: Evening Prayer Walk & Receiving of Ashes

February 17, 2021 7:00 - 8:00pm  |  Kennesaw UMC Outdoor Campus

1801 Ben King Road, Kennesaw, GA, USA

The big question this year is how to observe Ash Wednesday during a pandemic. We would like to invite you to come to the church on February 17 and spend some time in prayer. Everything will be outdoors.

Pastors Alex and Laurie will be imposing ashes at three times:

6:30-7:30 am
12:00-1:00 pm
7:00-8:00 pm

We will have an outdoor prayer walk and a prayer drive around the campus. These will be available beginning Tuesday evening and through the day Wednesday. Plan some extra time for the stations as you are able.

At the end of the stations, we’ll be imposing ashes in gloves and masks. If you’re uncomfortable with ashes on your forehead, we can also place those on the back of your hand.

Ash Wednesday is the traditional start of Lent, the 40-day season of preparation for Easter. Marking our foreheads with ashes is an ancient symbol of repentance and new beginnings with God.
